My name is Kath Macdonald and I am an artist living and working in Melbourne, Victoria. I studied Visual Arts at RMIT University majoring in painting.
My style is unique, it is a mix up of many different influences from the Masters, early colonial Australian painters through to contemporary Australian artists. Margaret Olley has been a big influence on me in the past few years, Vincent Van Gogh, Eugene Von Guerard, Arthur Streeton, Saffron Newey, printmaker Rona Green, scuptor Ron Mueck, Tim Gagnon, Jennifer Mills and so many more.
I come from a big family that has always had pets. Although in our family they are not really treated as, or considered, just pets. They are members of the family, "the babies!". I find I paint best when I paint from the heart, I am sure most artists feel this way. So I figure if I can harness the love people feel for their pets, that unconditional, deep and real love then I will be creating masterpiece after masterpiece!
I enjoy painting both landscapes and portraits and would love to paint one for you.
